today was racial harmony day . i dolled up in a punjabi suit (aka salwar kameez) . it was a two-toned suit...for heaven's sake! tones were first yellow...then morphed into an ashy grey. wore a coil bracelet and mystical looking necklace. Also wore my Birkenstocks-lookalikes with gold+black glitter on 'em.

Was just a normal day. And they also called in some parents to help in the food booths for the different races. you know what they are.

So why on earth did I burst my gut laughing?

well, there was the chinese stall selling this realllly old classic favourite called ...

MALTROSE CANDY!!!!!!!

Can you like, believe it? This candy used to be sold at streets when singapore was really young and damn undeveloped. it probably hasn't been seen in centuries. So when i heard such word as they were selling it...i decided i had to lay my greedy hands on those babies.

So right after school, lugging my fat wallet, badminton racket and freekin' heavy bag, went to the stall to push and smell flailing bodies, pushing even more to get the candy quickly. so first i wanted just one.thought of getting another 4 my mother so i wanted two. once i got there, i told the parent. but she gave me one first and told me that i had to keep twirling the molten candy around the sticks. So that's when i sensed trouble. every one was looking at me . so i kept twirling. but when the parent gave me the second stick of candy.

And that's when trouble started.

I just stuffed the first stick into my mouth while i twirled the second one. but the candy was dripping down the second stick while i tried to concentrate on the first one. some girls started screaming,"It's dripping!" I tried to get my wallet which i left at the stall so i went to the stall, a bit getting smeared on someone's shirt and my hair. boyoboy, did the candy drip. but not on the floor. on some girl's SPI bag. Please do not chide me for being inconsiderate, I know how much an SPI bag costs.It could have been a replica of the real one. But we're talking about me here!

So it dripped. I went straight to the canteen and got rid of the sticks. When i came back to the place, the girl had put her bag on a bench. I put my bag there too, got out an expensive piece of 3-ply tissue and started cleaning the mess off her bag.The others helped too.

i went to the canteen to dispose the tissue and washed my hands. then finally got outtathe place.
Phew..when i was in the lift, i laughed and guffawed like a banshee I hurt my stomach soo much!

It was definitely a lesson learned. Serves me right for being such a greedy pig!
