YESTERDAY was one of my rare, hyper days.

I went to IKEA for the first time! Well, it's MY first time, if you get my drift. not the first or my parents.

GOSH.

my first impression of the place was, 'wow, the place smells great.'

BUT the first thing that caught my attention was this:

Seriously!! SUSPENDED SOFAS! very unconventional.

cool cupboards.

this picture is now my phone's wallpaper.

Sis and I.

spindly, twiggy fingers of mine. glammed up by a vintage gold/diamond ring and a prussian-blue stone ring.

imagine some kids going,'hey mum, they're selling a laptop too!' and then they go tap-tapping at it, only to find it is just a freakish prototype. then the parents go,'haha, suckers!' ok. dumb story, obviously, but i am CHUCKLING.

Well I've got smth to say about this 'kitchen' we saw. The kitchen counter was so SWEDISH. it was made of hard/birch wood, and it just radiated that calm, comfy, homely kitchen vibe. Imagine coming home after school and finding a bowl of raspberry jelly waiting for you on the counter. And you can stand and eat it, and also watch the milk boiling on the stove for your cereal.

Spaghetti and linguine, yes?

OLD-SCHOOL KNOCKERS!!! MY FAVE!

WHEN i saw this, i got instantly reminded of XINYI.

wonderful (fake) flowers.

trying to look emo. J.K.

when i saw these chairs, i ran over to them like some 5-year-old Barbie-doll-loving girl. They (the chairs, not barbie dolls) were so adorable. FOR one, the bottom of the chair rose only 25 centimetres from the floor, so i had to cramp and fold my legs under myself.

I feel IKEA, like any other HEE-YOOGE furniture/home living store, is smart in the sense of sales tactics. You know, they have those huge boxes of equally huge (and obnoxious) YELLOW bags placed THROUGHOUT the store? Well those bags are made big for a reason. When you carry one on your left/right shoulder, it feels TERRIBLY EMPTY. and you get SORELY TEMPTED TO just put something in it, for god's sake.

so, the yellow carrier-on-wheels thingy is to place your beloved yellow bags. The white carrier is for exclusive IKEA plastic bags. THey charge 5cents for the small bags, and 10cents for the big bags. GOOD FOR YOU, IKEA. charging people for not being able to save the earth from being cooked.

ON TO OUR DINNER...

WELL, WE went to HOLLAND VILLAGE FOR DINNER. When I heard 'Holland Village', I thought of dusty, musty, stuffy coffeeshops arranged in rows. Well, I was partially wrong.

HOLLAND VILLAGE was WONDERFUL! I can't think of any other place in the world that can rival it.

WE WENT TO THIS FANTASTIC PLACE called THAIEXPRESS...

I steeped my rice in tom yum soup and lemon sauce. The Tom Yum soup is terribly hot..it beats the one at Bali Thai..what's more, the fish in the soup was really soft! One plunge of your spoon, and the fish is cut.

Chilli sauce. I swear there is honey in it.

The lemon sauce. One of the chicken dishes we ordered were sold out. So the waiter offered alternatives. Seeing my expression, mum asked if there was anyother way that they could give us the sauce in a different dish. The waiter said no.

10 minutes later, he returned with a dish of lemon sauce. I was really happy, so the service gets double thumbs-ups from me.

That was it, for the day. about Holland Village:
It's definitely not that much of a family hang-out, cos when we were leaving the place, we passed Indochine, and that, FYI, is a pub. Besides, we saw either really little kids/toddlers/babies and parents OR beautiful, leggy, rich adults. I MEAN, imagine looking at a beautiful woman every 10 metres. And there were lots of caucasian men and women and teenagers. It was like a more Singaporeanized version of NY Times Square. Whatever it was, Holland Village is great for gatherings and occasions..or simply an outing to observe different types of people and the way they behave in public.
one more thing: visit Holland V in the evening.
ps. I've added more songs to the myflashfetish player, so go check em out!
REPLY TO XINYI'S TAGS:
Wow, that's great to hear ..you love the song..i think you'll love the singer more, you'd like her fashion sense. She's really attitudish and full of girl-power, if you know what i mean. of course i wasn't snubbing you on purpose, candyfloss. actually i meant the songs in MY 'myflashfetish' player suck. but yeah, i've got that problem about renaming the songs sometimes..
DAN: LOL yeah i was engrossed in the food, cos it tasted great. you could eat it after it went warm and it would still taste great.
