Apologies for the lack of posts. ;(
I am terribly urged to blog, but when i stare at this page, i'm totally drained out of what I wanted to write.
Fine. I'll write about lessons, both boring ones and hybrid ones.
Since I didn't really write about Maths, I will. Obviously.
I don't know what is wrong with me. I'm just abnormal, please bear with me. and my random postings.
Mr Goh teaches us for Maths. He relieves us for Mr Ong, who'd been M.I.A. Heard he's undergoing treatment now, get well soon Mr Ong.
So, Mr Goh is funny, in a weird way. His pronounciation is well..erm. not that cohesive sometimes. And if we can't answer his questions, he will make us stand, either at our seats or at the front.
The funny thing is that he never picked on me. He just passed my table. It's not like I want him to pick me to answer a qn, i just find it weird.
Call me insane, but I think it's a really great way to make sure your students pay attention. When you're consumed with the fear that any freaking blinking time he could pick you to answer, you actually take to staring at the board and faithfully working out the answers. No offence, but I don't remember doing that during Mr Ong's lessons.
On the other hand, sometimes Maths lessons are treated with fear, so we don't learn a lot.
Anyway...
He'd written this factorization question on the board, and he started asking ppl what the prime factor was. He asked Frederick in front of me; he said 'a' was the prime factor..then he went down the row! Fred was wrong, so he was told to stand. I said 'b', and surprise, surprise, I was wrong. almost everyone in our row was standing.
what's more, you've got to earn your chance to sit. that is, you've got to ans a qn correctly, then you can give your poor bum a rest.
frederick got to sit ; i think he answered a qn. then mr goh wrote down another factorization qn. and i was practically mouthing out the answer. he saw this and said,"ok, you write the answer."
thing is, the method was practically above the question..so i wrote the (correct) answer. for that, he said 'very good'. i was like, that didn't even merit a 'very good'! whatever it merited, i got to sit.

Oh yes. I've not forgotten my SUSO presentation.
Four of us were selected as examples to show the rest of the participants how it's done ; Nasri (sec2), Praval (sec3) , Swathi (sec3) and myself. We each had to write a speech about one of the school values. My value was integrity.
In the morning, I happened to see Nasri, and he was telling me that at the last minute, Mrs Grace Ong disapproved of his speech, and he had to write a completely new one on that morning itself. He read it out.
Seriously, he added in some words like status quo and some others. I mean, just how many people know what is status quo? I'm not being arrogant or trying to show off. You guys know what my point is. Even I had to substitute some of the words in my speech with much simpler ones. 'Predicaments', anyone? Nonetheless, his speech was very well-written. It has to be. It's Nasri who wrote it.
I was the first speaker. GAH!! And the only sec 1. GAH!! Was a bit nervous at first, but when I came on stage, I was visibly relaxed. Gosh, the mic-stand didn't behave, so I had to hold the mic.
GAH!!
I didn't slip up at all, which was good.
When i got off the stage, Praval was like,"Omigod, you set such a high standard!"
Then Mrs Ong told him to keep quiet cos it meant showing Respect to others (It was Nasri's turn then).
The others did well, though.
Quite a number of people said I did well and I spoke fluently and all...TL Class Chairman said so too..but then he asked,"Did you write the speech yourself, or did someone write it for you?"
That seriously pissed me off. He thinks I can't speak/write English well? He should just take a mallet and knock himself on the head with it. Of course, I was joking.
I seriously have to go now...I'll talk more about fri tomorrow...it's past 12 midnight. Goodnight.
or should i say good morning?
